Christina Wetzler has a passion for music that began in her preschool years on children's xylophones and whistles and developed into playing flute starting at age eight. Originally from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, she was influenced by her flute teacher Edie Overly, to whose memory Christina dedicates her own flute studio. Christina Wetzler is a cum laude graduate of Belmont University School of Music, where she studied with Carolyn Treybig, Jeffrey Kirk and Rahsaan Barber. She served there as principle flute in the University Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble and performed with the jazz band, musical theatre, opera pit orchestras, flute choir and various other chamber ensembles. Her love of music crosses many styles from Bach to rock, Romantic era symphonies to "My Romance," folk tunes to Latin jazz, pop and much more! Christina enjoys sharing her love of music with others through teaching, composing, arranging and performing. Currently she performs with the Nashville Flute Choir and Nashville Praise Symphony; substitutes with the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra; performs, composes and arranges freelance; and teaches lessons in the Nashville and Hendersonville areas.
In addition to music and teaching, Christina's other interests include gardening, hiking, biking, swimming. Her favorite things to grow are vegetables and favorite place to hike is Mount Washington, New Hampshire. Christina has a teen daughter and a 3-year-old son who both bring her joy beyond measure!
